SENMC recognizes Charlie Beardmore as Mountain Lion Student of the Month

Southeast New Mexico College recognizes Charlie Beardmore as Mountain Lion Student of the Month

Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) is proud to recognize its Mountain Lion Student of the Month, an honor established to celebrate students who embody the college’s core values.

The Mountain Lion Student of the Month program was created to promote a culture of excellence, encourage active student engagement, and recognize outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, and community involvement. All currently enrolled SENMC students in good academic standing are eligible for nomination.

For the month of March, SENMC is pleased to announce Charlie Beardmore as the award recipient. Charlie was nominated by his professor, Zane Biebelle, in recognition of his dedication, hard work, and contributions to the SENMC community.

In her nomination, Zane Biebelle said this about Charlie:

Charlie Beardmore student of the month“Charlie has exhibited a lot of resourcefulness this month. He is a committed member of the CLIFF Scholars Honors Student Advisory Council, and he has been working hard to arrange several events for the CLIFF Scholars (and maybe even one for CLIFF Honors Faculty.) I have been extremely busy this month with two faculty searches, and Charlie asked me what he could do to help CLIFF Honors Scholars who are working on their projects and preparing for the CLIFF Honors Scholar Symposium. I told him he could work with the other members of the Student Advisory Council in order to build some events to help the students. He met with them, and together they came up with dates and a game plan.

Charlie really went above and beyond by taking charge and messaging the other CLIFF Scholars. I must say that I know that Charlie felt fairly anxious about this, but he showed a great deal of persistence and resilience in pushing through that and taking the lead. I'm very pleased with how much ownership and responsibility he's shown. He wants to help the other students with their projects in order to achieve excellence. Beyond that, I am incredibly moved by Charlie's willingness to step up and help me. It speaks to his character that he perceived a need of mine and moved forward. He also came up with the excellent idea of working with another student to create a commercial for CLIFF. I was blown away by the brainstorm. He is invested in creating community among the CLIFF Scholars, and he's doing a wonderful job.”

This recognition initiative reflects SENMC’s ongoing commitment to highlighting student success and fostering a strong, engaged campus community.
