Trades x Technologies (T²) Building
TRADES X TECHNOLOGIES GROUNDBREAKING
On September 23, 2025, SENMC broke ground on its Trades x Technologies Building, also known as T-squared, taking a major step forward in its plans for career and technical education focused on regional industry needs. Permian Strategic Partnership President and CEO Tracee Bentley, New Mexico Lt. Governor Howie Morales, Carlsbad Mayor Rick Lopez, Inaugural Board of Trustees Chair Dr. Ned Elkins, and Board of Trustees Chair Tiffany Frintz provided remarks in honor of the occasion. Jaynes Corporation, the project’s general contractor, provided lunch for nearly one hundred attendees at the conclusion of the event.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
Construction remains on schedule. As of February 2026, the footers and the elevator shaft pits have been finished and the underground plumbing installed. The slab will be poured in four sections. The first quadrant was completed the second week of February and work on the forms and rebar for the second quadrant are underway. If weather permits, steel erection will begin in March.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
The Trades x Technologies Building crossed the 40% completion point in mid-August. The building envelope has been completed and all steel has been installed. Exterior and interior walls are being framed and sheetrock installation is underway. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work is in progress. The roof will soon
be complete, which will serve to waterproof the facility as construction continues.
