Southeast New Mexico College recognizes Weirong Xiang as Mountain Lion Student of the Month

Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) is proud to recognize its Mountain Lion Student of the Month, an honor established to celebrate students who embody the college’s core values.  

The Mountain Lion Student of the Month program was created to promote a culture of excellence, encourage active student engagement, and recognize outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, and community involvement. All currently enrolled SENMC students in good academic standing are eligible for nomination. 

For the month of April, SENMC is pleased to announce Weirong Xiang as the award recipient. Wei was nominated by Dr. Candace Byers and Ms. Maria Quintana in recognition of his dedication, hard work, and contributions to the SENMC community.

In their nomination, Dr. Byers and Ms. Quintana said about Wei: 

“We are honored to nominate Weirong Xiang for Student of the Month. Wei is a dedicated pre-nursing student and serves as a student worker for the Community Education Program, where she consistently goes above and beyond in her role. As a student, Wei pursues knowledge in depth for its own sake, demonstrating intellectual curiosity and linking concepts taught in class with broader experiences and information from other sources. Her enthusiasm for a genuine understanding of the material makes her a delight to have in the classroom. In all of her roles at SENMC, Wei demonstrates an exceptional work ethic, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to helping others. She approaches every task with enthusiasm and a positive attitude, whether it’s assisting instructors, organizing materials, or helping community members feel welcome on campus. Her attention to detail and reliability make her an invaluable part of our team. Wei exemplifies the qualities of leadership, perseverance, and compassion that align with our college’s values. She balances her academic responsibilities with her work duties effortlessly, setting a strong example for her peers. Her passion for learning and her dedication to her future career in nursing are truly inspiring. Wei’s kindness, dependability, and outstanding performance make her a perfect candidate for Student of the Month. She represents the best of our college community: hardworking, caring, and committed to making a difference.”
